Olbermann: “Bush Making It Up As He Goes Along”

Wow.  Keith Olbermann has incredible large balls.  This scathing dressdown of Bush’s reasons for war show him for what he really is:  a power-hungry traitor who will say whatever he must to have his will carried out.

Daily Kos: Webb, conservative

Not at all.  The senator-elect for Virginia has all the marking of a progressive move-and-shaker, and I got excited just reading what he has published post-election.

double-edged

// November 12th, 2006

Every election period, politicians point to each other’s voting record and highlight “the horrible truth.”  Anyone who knows anything about how government works, however, understands that bills are often -amended,- sometimes with sentences that have absolutely nothing to do with the bill itself.  For example, a bill about ending the war in Iraq might have tagged onto it that we might give Texas back to Mexico, and to vote for one would make both law.

Given that the Republicans are more famous for doing this, I think it’s payback time.  The Democrats hold both the senate and the house for the first time in twelve years.  Here are a few things I’d be pushing for if I were in there position:

1. A bill that would raise the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour and provide that any member of Congress who directs unwanted sexual advances to a congressional page shall be censured.

2. A bill that would restore cuts in Medicaid funding and ban any government funding for live-birth abortions performed in the third trimester of pregnancy.

3. A bill that would set a timetable for troop withdrawals in Iraq and provide that any member of Congress who declares in writing that his votes are for sale to whoever is willing to pay the largest bribe shall be censured.

I’d love to see them explain their “no” votes to the “Moral Majority” during the 2008 campaign!  (props to my dad for help with the list)

Barack Obama in 2008,
Jonthon

Missouri ballot workers up to dirty tricks?

// November 7th, 2006

Carnahan has problems voting

“I presented my voter registration card, the one you get in the mail with your name, address and polling location, and was asked by a lady — who was very nice — for a photo ID.

Carnahan, the state’s top elections official, told CNN Tuesday she tried to explain to the poll worker that a photo ID is not necessary to vote in Missouri — the state’s Supreme Court struck down the requirement on Oct. 16 — but was asked two more times for such identification.

Reason to worry…
