Testing Darwin’s Teachers

Testing Darwin’s Teachers – Los Angeles Times

This article details what its like to teach evolution theory in Liberty, MO.  It makes me wish I could still be in high school, so I can wholeheartedly back my teacher up and tell these kooky uber-religious kids to keep it in the chapel.

Vaffanculo!

// March 31st, 2006

Daily Kos: Scalia’s obscene gesture: photo now available!

A Herald reporter asked the justice how he responds to critics who might question his impartiality as a judge given his public worship. “The judge paused for a second, then looked directly into my lens and said, `To my critics, I say, `Vaffanculo,’ ” punctuating the comment by flicking his right hand out from under his chin, Smith said.

Vaffanculo!

The Italian phrase means “(expletive) you.”

Direct Recording Electronic (DRE) voting machines a continual disaster

// March 27th, 2006

IL Primaries Plagued by E-Voting ‘Glitches’”

My dad wrote his senior thesis at Northwestern about electronic voting machines and their tendency to knock low-income and minority voters off. We all like to think that digital is always better, but the countless glitches and thrown elections are starting to challenege that assumption. But why does it have to be in my state?

I ought to start up a DRE vote machine manufacturing center.  It is becoming obvious that there is no real competition in this industry.

Scalia – America’s first Supreme Clown

Should Scalia Recuse Himself From Gitmo Case? – Newsweek Periscope – MSNBC.com

It puzzles me that a man who feels this way about judicial process is on the highest court on Earth…

…but I guess I shouldn’t be TOO surprised, given:

United Press International – Justice Scalia flips the finger in church

ASA : Renewed bid for medical marijuana back in court

Angel Raich, chronically ill marijuana user, will appear in appeals court soon. Two footnotes left open by Justice Clarence Thomas in the previous case have left the door open for future suits.

I smoked with Ms. Raich. =)

Feingold is Right

// March 27th, 2006

Feingold’s recent move to censure President Bush is in the best interests of Americans.  Only 36% of the American public continues to turn a blind eye to the fact that our President is a liar.  And I’m not worried as much about the lies of the past – I’m worried about the lying that continues into the present.  He is still spying on Americans, and libertarians should be riled about that (I am!).  He continually lies to us about his reverse-Robin hood budgets, counting on us being too stupid to call him out on it.  Of course, the majority of his lies are about Iraq, and his inability to level with us may result in our great country losing its first war.
What do you do to liars?  My mom used to tape my mouth shut when I lied.  Feingold’s censure can be viewed similarly.  He’s giving Bush the message that if he can’t tell the truth, he might as well stop talking.  The 64% of us who aren’t being cowed by the talking heads need to show our support for Feingold, censure the worst president America has ever had, and start looking for answers together.
