Her nomination was such a bad idea, but it goes to show how Bush is so delusional, he thinks he can push anything he wants through Congress. (Apparently, he has a short enough memory to have forgotten his botched Social Security campaign from earlier this year.)
The most interesting part of these latest articles is this quote from Kansas Senator Sam Brownback (R): “[The White House is] doing everything they can to prepare Harriet Miers for the hearings right now.”
So, even the White House knows that Miers can’t skate through the proceedings on her own merits. She needs to be coached!
It will be publicly embarrassing for the Senators if they approve Miers. It’s a high-profile story, and any Senator who votes for her will look foolish. No politician wants that kind of bad press. It’s one thing to be the President’s flunky on issues that nobody hears about (e.g., the Coburn amendment on pork spending), but this is the top political story of the fall.
If Miers fails, she should start her own lingerie line at JC Penney. She’s SEXY!
