Tonight, I went to see Barack Obama speak at the Apollo.  Whereas I was previously a bit ashamed not to have yet attended the historic theater I live just six blocks south of, going to the Apollo for the first time to see Barack Obama live for the first time was an unforgettable experience.  The line wrapped around the corner, and around another corner, and went all the way back down the block.  And somehow, I think they got most of those people in there.

Absolutely incredible experience.

Last weekend, I flew to Kansas City for my friend Mollie’s wedding. It was reeally fun, and the location was really impressive. Because two of our mutual friends are professional photographers, all moments were well-captured:

At the reception, I sat with a friend’s mom, who taught me how to whip stitch. Now, my hoodie has thumbholes!

For thanksgiving last night, Kristin and I stayed in. I made a sweet potato casserole, baked mac’n'cheese, and brownies. Plus, after the meal, I crushed up some cardamom seeds and made some cardamom bread, which is delicious. Kristin made some delicious green beans, onions and mushrooms.

Friend Wheel for Jonthon Coulson – Facebook Friend Relationships

The friend wheel graphically displays my social network.  I see order and reason in it.  I’m intrigued by it.  Others may think it’s just pretty.

On Friday, I went out to a TFA event at the Brooklyn brewery, and hung out with my PD and others. It was fun. Afterwards, we went and got pizza. I had to use the bathroom, but the pizza place didn’t have one, and neither did the neighboring bodega, but the one on the end of the block did. I exited that facility one cross-stitched rose richer, and by the end of the night my PD Kaycee was richer to that same extent.

Yesterday, I went to Queens to watch El Padrino with Dave. (The movie was great.) As I crossed the parking lot just across the street from his house, I saw a rolled-up rug just lying there. For no apparent reason, I picked it up and walked it across the street. As the back end hit the ground, I kept thinking it was probably a chopped-off arm being ground down. Instead, it was just the rug coming out the other end. Dave was quite surprised by my offering, which other than a few candy wrappers was in pretty good shape. We put it out on the balcony, and it’ll have to be cut in half, but will then cover its entire surface area. It’s very hookah-ish, which works out because that’s where Dave uses the hookah.

Quote from clockwork orange:

“Alex: And what will you do with the big, big, big money? Have you not everything you need? Have you not everything you need? If you need a motor car, you pluck it from the trees. If you need pretty polly, you take it.”
