Last night, I attended Relay for Life. The event lasted from 6 pm to 6 am, and not only did I stay, I walked almost the entire time. I think I walked a total of about 6 miles, and ran 1 or 2. I was part of the group "Greek Gods and Goddesses," which was amusing to me as I am none of the three. I had suggested the name Neulastars, a derivation of the medication named Neulasta, which increases white blood cell counts (my brother, who is currently fighting cancer, told me his wbc count went from 2 to 64 in the course of a night (adequate level for humans is about 15)). Anyway, they nixed that. The girl that had hooked me up with the group didn't show up, or if she did, it was only to walk the track once or twice. Thus, I didn't know a single person in my group! Which explains the walking...
Nevertheless, I had a good time. My friend Nick Brown was running the Pre-Med Club booth, and my friends Jamie Custer and Emily Stuart were facilitating the entire event. Also, I knew people at the other tents. There was a luminaria ceremony, a Miss Relay contest (in which only men dressed as females participated), and other games.  They fed us a midnight snack and breakfast, which was really cool.  At the end of the night, they announced that our Relay had raised over $61,000 for cancer research! After that, I went home and passed out for a long time.  When I awoke, I was off to work on my capstone plans book. It dominated the next two and a half days of my life.
